College pays tribute after sudden death of 12-year-old pupil

Pupils and staff at Sawtry Community College have paid tributes following the death of a 'bright, lively' schoolboy.
News was broken to the college yesterday (Thursday, September 4) of the death of Alex Gale, aged 12.

Police had been called to an address inBeaumaris Road, Sawtry on Wednesday at about 5pm to investigate a sudden death.

Speaking on behalf of the pupils, staff and governors of the college, the principal James Stewart, said: "He was a bright, lively, hardworking and very popular member of the school community.

"He was liked and respected by his fellow students and teachers. He was an excellent student and he will be sadly missed by everyone at the college. Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this very sad time.

"Fellow students and friends are being offered help and support to cope with the tragic death of this popular young man."

Police said in a statement: "Officers have established that the death is not suspicious and the case has now been handed to the coroner."
