Support is growing for a campaign to improve access to attractions such as Grafham Water and Brampton Wood.
The campaign, which is being led by Brampton Parish Council and supported by Grafham Parish Council, is to get access for walkers, cyclists and horse riders over the A1 and the new A14 carriageway when it is built.

The crossing is to be at West End Brampton where a public right of way has been gradually eroded by the increasing volume of traffic on the A1.

Grafham Parish Council recently received a presentation on the subject and have written to the Highways Agency expressing its support for the scheme.

However, councillors felt they did not have enough information on the scheme to deliver leaflets to parishioners on the subject.

Grafham parish clerk Margaret Life said: "We are supporting it as it will encourage people to get out into the countryside, which is a good thing.

"Grafham has a lot of visitors who cycle or walk and it is better for them if they don't have to negotiate the traffic.

"It will also make it easier for people from Grafham to get into Brampton."

Brampton Parish Council has sent out 2,500 questionnaires to Brampton and surrounding villages, such as Perry, Grafham and Ellington.

The county council said it supported the crossings.
A spokesman for the Highway Agency said it would not be able to make any decision until after the route of the new A14 is announced.
